John’s family is originally from Hickory, NC but after his father graduated from UNC he moved to Charlotte where John and his siblings were born and raised. John has always been an active person and full of energy. At the age of 5 he began swimming and continued to do so until Highschool. When he wasn’t busy with swimming or playing with his childhood friends he was very active in Boy Scouts of America. During John’s time in Boy Scouts he held every position available to him and was nominated by his peers to go to Philmont Boy Scout Camp in New Mexico. This was particularly special because only 11 boys each year out of thousands are ask to go. John moved quickly through the ranks and was the youngest Eagle Scout in his Boy Scout Troop 1. Today, John owes much of his success to the lessons he learned during his time in boy scouts.

John graduated high school from Charlotte Catholic and then continued his education at Western Carolina University where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship. During his college career he was given the opportunity to study abroad in Rome, Italy for a semester, which humbled him beyond belief. When John returned from Italy he helped re-charter Pi Kappa Phi. This allowed him to work on his biggest passion, running his fraternities philanthropy (PUSH America) for two years before graduating.

John always knew he wanted to do something other than working for his family’s business in Hickory. His strong interest in finance combined with his passion for giving back to his community lead him to a career with Northwestern Mutual in 2014.

Hobbies include: Saltwater and Fly fishing, attending concerts, UNC Sports, traveling, hiking/camping, mountain biking, being active and spending time with family and friends.
